MANtiquing - A male shopping experience at a flea market, antique mall or pawn shop where men tend to find loads of old junk often referred to as "art" or "collector's items".
Ok so it's not all junk. The bf, his Dad and I visited the popular Long Beach Antique Market this past Sunday and there were actually lots of cool and interesting finds...TONS of vendors, items that appealed to many different areas of interest and no lack of the always entertaining people watching (see the pic below with the guy who pimped his motorized scooter out with a massive speaker on the back blasting the song "Ridin' Dirty"...classic)!
Without provocation, the bf can S H O P with the best of them! Add his Dad into the mix and the Long Beach Antique Market was a MANtiquers paradise. Held on the 3rd Sunday of each month at the Long Beach, CA Veterans Stadium, this antique mecca features over 800 vendors showcasing furniture, collectables, antiques and vintage items. We were up at 5:30am (on a freakin' Sunday!) to get to this place in time to "not miss out on any of the good stuff". In true MANtiquer form, the bf's Dad had a fool proof plan for navigating through the massive overflow of madness (went something like scouring tip to tip from the outside in). I don't even know how I made it through the day...we're talking 6 hours people!!! 6 hours of negotiating, haggling, rummaging, walking, bickering, investigating (thank goodness for Google and Ebay! They're a godsend when it comes to seeing what things are worth and making smart deals) and discovering. It was truly a fun experience in MANtiquing with the best of 'em. See below pics for the days finds!
♥Tip: BRING WATER!! We ignored the tip and ended up really kicking ourselves with the lack of refreshments at the market. They have a concession stand at the far right of the entrance but better to have it when you need it!
