I've arrived in Vegas baby!! Had an awesome flight in thanks to the 2 hilariously fun guys I sat with, got a resort room upgrade and drink tickets when I checked into my hotel (it pays to be nice and flashing a killer smile doesn't hurt...I'd like to give myself all the credit but I'm pretty sure that Cranberry Vodka on the plane amped up the charm a bit!) and to top it all off, my first night in Vegas was spent enjoying LOTS of amazing food at one of my Vegas favorites...Firefly!
Firefly is a sassy little Tapas spot on Paradise in Las Vegas...the locals love it, the tourists (that would be me) can't get enough! I'm a HUGE fan of Tapas...everything is in small portions so you get a chance to try so many different foods on the menu! I wish all food was served this way! Can you imagine how many new foods you could try if at every restaurant each person could order 3+ menu items...(!!)
Firefly's interior is dark and intimate...like a sexy Spanish lounge with a lively crowd and excellent bar selection...they keep the pitchers of 3-day marinated Sangria flowing, and offer flavors like Blueberry, Watermelon, and Mango Mojitos (which are likely the vices attributing to the festive attitudes of patrons inside)!
If for no other reason...you need to come here and try the Stuffed Dates wrapped in bacon, with a smoked almond, blue cheese, and red wine reduction(!!!) This simple dish is what I look forward to most when I visit Vegas (seriously!...they are THAT good!) and I've just added Caiti to the list of those that were a little weary at first but the second they try it become converted lovers of Bacon Wrapped Dates as well...you just can't deny the goodness! It's the perfect mix of sweet/savory and the almond adds the perfect little crunch to the otherwise chewy texture.
I've tried the stuffed Dates thing at several restaurants but Firefly does it best hands down!
Here are some of the other good choices of the evening:
With every order you get bread, green olives, & the most amazing Almond Honey butter!
Tuna Tartare w/ Mango & Avocado served w/ taro chips
Camarones a la diabla: Jumbo Shrimp in Spicy Chile Sauce
Steak & Mushroom Skewers: Grilled Filet & Roast Garlic Cream in Red Wine Reduction
Camarones al ajillo: Shrimp in Lemon-Garlic Butter Sauce
